2016 Update on Our Mountain Caribou Hunts

Nov 18, 2016B.C. Hunting

The trend for quality mountain caribou continues to impress here at the northern edge of British Columbia. The trophy quality of bulls has been on the rise and this year was no exception. Once again our hunters were able to take some great mountain caribou.

The year began as expected and we took a couple of caribou during the early combo hunts, including one outstanding bull in velvet. But with the advance of September, the bigger bulls began coming out of the woodwork and the mountain caribou hunting really turned on. By the end of the season, we were proud to have a lineup of excellent quality bulls.

Mountain caribou always prove to be a perfect species to add to any combo hunt. Not only is there a high probability of seeing caribou while hunting other species, but they tend to be active throughout the day, which makes for a hunt with little down time.

Like most of our hunts, our mountain caribou hunts are done on horseback, which allows us to hunt the upper plateaus and cover a lot of ground in search of a quality bull. The white manes and beautiful coloring of this caribou subspecies make them a very unique trophy.
