Extra Credit Opportunities: Wolf, Wolverine & Black Bear
Most of our hunters arrive with plans for a combo hunt. For some, there’s a specific objective and a second species would be a bonus. Moose, mountain caribou, mountain goat and stone sheep are the four primary species we pursue. But in addition to these four, there’s always opportunity for extra credit.
Wolves, wolverines and black bears also occupy this country. Carrying extra tags on these hunts could land you with a unique opportunity. While the opportunity at a wolf or even a wolverine might be rare, taking one of these beautiful creatures is a serious bonus opportunity.
Plan Your Primary Hunt First
The opportunity at a wolf, wolverine or black bear is simply a bonus. We do not offer them as standalone hunts. The focus is always on the primary species. But on a hunt for mountain caribou, moose or mountain goats, you might just spot a wolf. If you get the chance, it might be worth having the tag in your pocket.
Making Field Decisions
In the field, the primary species is always the highest priority. When you cross one of these incidental species however, making a decision in the field is necessary. Not to worry, the decision usually comes pretty naturally based on the situation. Our guides are always prepared to assist with that decision and will help determine the best course of action.
Extra Days After a Harvest
One of the best reasons for carrying the extra tags is the ability to continue hunting after harvesting the primary species. Keep the extra licenses on hand so you can continue hunting through the remainder of your stay. Harvesting a wolf or wolverine in particular is a special opportunity not found in many other places. On a 10-day hunt in a game rich region, you might cross paths with one of these incredible animals.
