Area & History
Our hunting area lies at the headwaters of the Yukon River drainage system, on British Columbia’s remote northern border. Hundreds of miles from anywhere, this area is a trip back in time. With great numbers of animals and outstanding trophy quality, it’s like nowhere else in North America. We don’t have to travel in order to hunt moose, caribou, goat or sheep. The opportunity to hunt so many species from a single location is completely unique.
More than just abundant wildlife and big trophy potential, the area is also extremely scenic and very huntable. Some areas might have big numbers of moose, but being heavily wooded makes them difficult to locate. This region is dominated by beautiful open country, allowing us to glass long distances. Hunting on horseback gives us the ability to cover even more country. Our hunters can expect to see a lot of animals, and we typically enjoy very fast-paced hunts.
Last but certainly not least, our hunters are welcomed by a camp infrastructure unlike any other in such a remote part of Canada. After purchasing Kawdy Outfitters in the 1980’s, legendary outfitter Stan Lancaster spent more than 30 years building a world-class operation and we have inherited that foundation. Our three base camps feature cozy heated cabins, spacious cook houses with full kitchens, hot showers, separate guide cabins and even WiFi. Our hunters enjoy a hot breakfast each morning and a home-cooked dinner each night. Even our spike camps have wood-stove heated cabins or wall tents with propane cook stoves and bag showers. These features make our spike camps more comfortable than the base camps at many operations.
From your initial charter flight into camp and throughout your stay, you will be greeted with impeccable hospitality, incredible scenery and outstanding hunting here at Kawdy Outfitters!
