ABOUT US

ABOUT US

Kawdy Outfitters is owned and operated by Colin and Alisha Niemeyer, along with their two sons, Jack and Theodore. Together, they carry on the tradition of horseback hunting in the breathtaking mountains of Northwest British Columbia.

Since purchasing the area in 2015, Colin, Alisha, and their exceptional crew have worked diligently to improve the operation of Kawdy. Developing trail networks, infrastructure and maintaining healthy wildlife populations through careful harvest management and a commitment to predator control.

Colin's outfitting journey began in 2005 when he acquired a hunting territory in central BC. With over 25 years of guiding and hunting experience in this beautiful province, Colin now flies full-time during the season while also guiding sheep hunts and sharing his passion for the mountains with his two sons.

Alisha joined Colin in the outfitting business in 2007 and divides her time between their ranch in Smithers and the Kawdy camp. She cherishes the excitement of the changing seasons and the joy of watching her sons embrace the traditions of mountain and ranch life.

OUR HUNTING AREA

OUR HUNTING AREA

Kawdy Outfitters offers a unique hunting experience in a truly remarkable setting. Our hunting area, located at the headwaters of the Yukon River drainage system on British Columbia's remote northern border, is rich in history and teeming with wildlife. This remote location provides a step back in time, with unparalleled access to moose, caribou, goat, and sheep – all without extensive travel.

The area's stunning beauty is matched only by its exceptional huntability. Unlike heavily wooded areas where spotting game can be challenging, our region boasts open landscapes that allow for long-distance viewing and efficient hunting on horseback. This translates to more animal sightings and a fast-paced hunting experience for our clients.

Our commitment to excellence extends to our camp infrastructure. Building upon the legacy of legendary outfitter Stan Lancaster, we offer three base camps equipped with wood heated cabins, full kitchens, bag showers, and WiFi. Our hunters enjoy hot breakfasts and home-cooked dinners daily. Even our spike camps provide exceptional comfort with wood-stove heated cabins or wall tents, propane cook stoves, and guides with good attitudes!

From your arrival to your departure, you can expect outstanding hospitality, breathtaking scenery, and exceptional hunting here at Kawdy Outfitters.

TROPHY & MEAT CARE

TROPHY & MEAT CARE

Following the harvest of your game, your guide will field dress, cape, quarter, and salt the animal. Please note that the guide will require additional time in camp (typically the next day) to meticulously prepare your trophy for the taxidermist.

At the conclusion of your hunt, you will need to sign a Declaration form, which serves as a record of receipt for transporting wildlife. Please also provide us with the name and contact information of your chosen taxidermist.

At the end of our season, we work with Export Specialist Brian Kadrmas of Dakota Taxidermy and Exports [www.dakotataxidermy.com] to arrange the pickup of all trophies and hides. He will manage the necessary permits for their preparation and shipment to your taxidermist. Please note that any additional shipping fees are the responsibility of the client.

If you intend to keep the meat from your game, please contact us for detailed information on the processing and transportation procedures for bringing meat back into the USA.

For those keeping their game meat, we strongly recommend driving to Watson Lake, Yukon, where we can fly you into camp. We also suggest bringing a freezer to ensure your meat remains in optimal condition for the trip home. Please contact us for further details. Any wild game meat not taken by the client will be used in camp, distributed to guides and local families, or donated to British Columbia food banks through our GOABC donation program.

We do not provide refunds, so we recommend that you get coverage in the event you cannot make the hunt. We highly recommend you protect your hunt investment with trip insurance.

The Guide Outfitters Association of British Columbia (GOABC) recommends the purchase of travel insurance for any and all hunts.  We have specifically recommended using Global Rescue or Acera Insurance to purchase your next policy.

The coverage is specifically designed for adventure and wilderness holidays and can be tailored for Canadian and international guests.
