Hunting northern British Columbia offers a number of distinct advantages. The country is relatively open and huntable. It’s extremely remote, offering a pristine and unpressured experience. But perhaps the best thing about hunting northern B.C. is that it offers the ultimate combo hunt.
Our area here at Kawdy Outfitters is home to stone sheep, mountain goat, mountain caribou, moose and grizzly. There’s no travel time between hunting areas and it’s not uncommon to see multiple species in a single day. In fact, we strongly encourage our hunters to book combo hunts and to be prepared with multiple tags. The opportunity to take two or three trophies on a 10-day hunt makes this an experience like no other.
The most common combo hunt that we offer is moose and mountain caribou. These two species make a perfect combination and this area is home to some outstanding mountain caribou bulls and bull moose. Mountain goat also makes a great addition to any combo hunt, as does grizzly.
Here at Kawdy Outfitters, we hunt from three main lodges and we also use spike cabins scattered throughout the area. Most of our hunts rely on horses to access these remote areas. This horseback style of hunting allows us to cover a lot of ground, efficiently hunting multiple trophies on a combo hunt.
